Here's Dads posting:
Today, 1-25-11, we had a visit with the UCLA GI Dr regarding tests of the small intestine looking for the cause of my anemia. First we will do a non-invasive look at the bowel using a small wireless video camera the size of a large pill. I swallow the capsule with the camera inside and it moves through my gut and intestines while transmitting video images to a small recorder that I wear in an external belt pack. This takes 8 to 10 hours for the passing. Great technology. I am doing this tomorrow,1-26-11. Next, in about two weeks they will do a deep spiral endoscopy through the throat. This is a corkscrew device that drags the endoscopy camera through the intestines. They can investigate about nine feet into the small intestine with this device. If they find something of interest they will do a biopsy and will remove any polyps they come across.
That's all I know for now.
