Visitor from Detroit

So all the Cali Hobans know, Aunt Marion is here visiting. She is here till Feb 12.I'm sure she is enjoying the warmer weather and if you get a chance stop by, have a chat and a cup of tea.
(Her birthday is tomorrow, 1-27) So Welcome Aunt Marion & Happy Birthday too!!

Parents Chrismas Gift

The "Dinner of the Month Club" is a very fun gift to give our parents, it lets us take the time to make a special evening with them. As you can see Eileen & family had Jan and they spent the last weekend in Needles with the Hartwicks. Along with that we gave them the "Pie of the Month" from Grand Traverse Pie Co. So they will get special deliveries of their choice of pie.
They will probably get a little more unexpected company too.

Prayers

I know most of you are on Dad's mailing list, but just in case I ask that you keep him in your thoughts & prayers. You might not check your e-mail but hop on to see whats happening on the 'Herald'. It will be a long day for them, he had to be at UCLA at 8:30am. It might not seem early but in SoCal traffic if they left the house at 6:00am they might make it on time. So please pray for them, Mom need the support too.
Here's Dads posting:

Today, 1-25-11, we had a visit with the UCLA GI Dr regarding tests of the small intestine looking for the cause of my anemia. First we will do a non-invasive look at the bowel using a small wireless video camera the size of a large pill. I swallow the capsule with the camera inside and it moves through my gut and intestines while transmitting video images to a small recorder that I wear in an external belt pack. This takes 8 to 10 hours for the passing. Great technology. I am doing this tomorrow,1-26-11. Next, in about two weeks they will do a deep spiral endoscopy through the throat. This is a corkscrew device that drags the endoscopy camera through the intestines. They can investigate about nine feet into the small intestine with this device. If they find something of interest they will do a biopsy and will remove any polyps they come across.
That's all I know for now.

2010 Niece Night

Sometimes she gets a little crazy. Like when she hosts her annual Niece Night. All the cousins get together, dress up crazy, have a fashion show, watch movies & eat ice cream sundays the rest of the night. This is a much anticipated event. this year it was held on the saturday night before donut sunday. (Aunts are invited too, cuz with out then we wouldnt have nieces)

Now as you can see even the little ones get into the spirit. Here's Duggan getting her lips done by Kaitlyn...........

Tibor was there this year, so he was the cute accessory for Bri.

Then we have Kaia & Corrinne getting down....

Here's Allie & Kaitlyn being weirdos and Kami with Duggan doing their walk of fame.......

Last is the smallest niece Lyla Kay, she's
not sure whats going on but she'll be all into it next year

Donut Sunday 2010

Sunday was a wonderful day, a little rainy at the end. But we got to see old friends that only come out to the Hoban gathering & some older friends that were a bigger surprise.
Pink was the new color this year, see what you missed.

Mom & Dad, are enjoying all the friends that come to see & be seen. Even Gene Clarke showed up to say Hi. Friends bring their families, some have never seen the donut machine at work. They are amazed. After 40 years its still going strong. Dad bought the machine in May of 1970 for a church event. It has gotten a lot of use.

Brothers, Jerome & Kevin.
The best part of the day is the relaxing at the table for a family dinner. This year it was 'Mexican Food'. Everyone brought something to go with Mom's homemade tamales. Those who were not there for Christmas Eve got their gifts from the Grandparents.
Cousins, Allie, Dillon, Ryan & Kaitlyn. They only see each other at family events. And the rush is on to see who get in the Christmas album the most. They really do count the photos.

Jenna & daddy, Jason

Aunt Kim with Tibor, isn't he the cutest....

Jerome reading a book to Jackson, guess it wasn't that exciting.

Lyla K with Uncle Ken

Kami & Roshan.....

The Slipps, Tim, & Joan with Megan, Sheila & Eileen. Joan has helped with donuts in the past, this year she brought her new husband Tim.

Tibor with his friend from Sacramento, Flavius. Again both are first timers.
