Bri updates us
just thought I'd copy the whole letter:
Hello Family!
>> I wanted to wait till I was finished with the fair to send out this email. This years OC fair started for me with the pigs. If you didn't know, I raised a pig this year and her name was Sunny-D. I enjoyed raising Sunny so much this year, it was the highlight of this year so far!!! Sunny-D is different then all the other pigs though, instead of being sent to Harvest as a market pig she got sold to Centennial Farms as a breeding pig. None of this would have been possible without the help of Uncle Jerome with his connections through Centennial Farms, Uncle Tom & Nan at the auction and everyone else who added to the purchase or contributed with add-ons. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!! In pig showmanship Sunny went a little, well actually a lot, crazy!!! She kept running around the arena and I had trouble controlling her. So because of that I didn't place well but I plan to do better next year. She also got 2nd place in her weight class. Because of you guys you made my first year with a large livestock animal (pig) an amazing one!!!!!!!!!
>> After pig week came the Rabbit week. During Rabbit week I got 4th in showmanship, which I was really happy with considering that it was my first time showing as a senior. In show my blue dutch got best of breed and my black dutch got 2nd place. My Flemish Giant also got best of breed. When it came to picking best in show I was so surprised when Nutmeg my Flemish giant got BEST IN SHOW!!!!
>> After rabbits was Cavies (guinea pigs) my guinea pig didn't do very well in show because she is old and out of her young good looking condition but I tied in 1st place for showmanship. The tiebreaker was knowledge questions. I answered one part of a question wrong and ended up in 2nd place. The girl who ended up in 1st for guinea pigs however, got first in Rabbits too so that meant I got to show in Master showmanship. Master showmanship is where you show a rabbit, cavy (guinea pig), chicken, and pygmy goat. I am happy that I got third in master showmanship because normally I get fourth and I was up against some very knowledgeable competitors. My building entries were a bracelet I made and my duct tape flower. The bracelet placed 2nd in its division. My duct tape flower placed first and division winner. Overall I had a fun three weeks at the fair!!! I LOOK FORWARD TO NEXT YEAR!!!! :)

>> Love you all so much,

Bri's Sunny D
OC Fair, the big event of the summer, and the Hoban family was still represented. Bri Shannon raised her first pig this year in her 4H group. She named her Sunny D. Bri took 2nd place in her event for market hog. However with some help from the family and a few fair friends, she was bought and re-donated to the Centennial Farm on the fairgrounds.
Everyone can visit Sunny D next year on the other side of the fair.
