Sheila Update

Todays doctor appointment was great. The surgeon was very happy with the path report. He said you can't get better numbers than this. Called it a Stage 1, T1B N0 M0. The lymp nodes were negative for carcinoma, all margins were clear. The tumor size was 1cm and negative for ductal caecinoma in SITI and for microcalcifications. Lots more but thats the jest of it. Said I could go back to work on Monday, if I wanted, for a couple weeks before I started the radiation. He was very susprised I wanted to
So heres Mike's post on his FB:
A "VALENTINE FROM GOD! We Praise Him, We thank Him! We received great news from the Surgeon & Pathologist! At this point, Sheila is Cancer FREE! She still has to do the radiation for 6 weeks & possibly Chemo to insure that it does'nt come back. We celebrated by going to Anchos for dinner & Sheila had a Strawberry Margarita. Stress can be a real killer, Can you see the stess relief in our faces. Thank you All for your support & Prayers! Keep them coming. "HAPPY VALENTINES DAY."
Heres hoping you all had as great a day as we did. Love you Sheila

Growing up the grandkids

Mike has been working on getting his garden in shape for the new season. He added another board, 12 in to each bed so he wouldn't have to bend down so far when he 's working on things. Then the boys Ryan & Josh added layers of manure and new dirt that Mike bought. Now the beds are all filled up just waiting for the new seedlings.

All the extra dirt is a playground for the grand kids. they love to dig and make tunnels. This grandma has lost 3 spoons now, wont see them again till we get the dirt moved around to fill in the driveway holes. Meanwhile Mike thought he'd help grow up the grand kids. But he says don't over water them they get mushy.

Bri's new baby

Bri's new little Dutch rabbit. She named her Duchess. She'll be showing her at the OC fair this summer for one of her 4-H projects. After interviewing her, I was told she is showing her guinea pigs too. For the food showing. on January 28,  she competed in the local "Food Fiesta"  in cake decorating walking away with a gold medal. So shes planning on that for the fair too.

Sheila's Update

After 2 days of sleeping, I'm finally feeling like I'm getting back to normal. (tomorrow I can take a shower, then I'll feel like I'm normal) The doctor was very happy with the way things went in the operating room. Now, the healing process is a little longer than the surgery. I have a follow up with the surgeon next week. I think we will have the pathology report back by then, to get the final results, and see what the next step is in the process. Thanks for all the love & support. I know He was listening to all your prayers.

last day at work

Gotta tell you, I work with the best bunch of guys ever.
As I saw people coming in Tues morning I didn't think a whole lot about Tony's shirt, he always wears pink, then I noted TC happened to have on pink too. But it wasn't till I was teasing Sheree about not wearing the matching pink shoes, I know she has, that it all came together. The whole office was wearing pink in support of me. Joe told me he never wore a pink shirt in his life, he had to raid the Halloween box for one of his boys shirts. And he didn't want to see  this shot floating around on FB. But I had to share it with you. Cuz I know your all supporting me too.

They got some cookies, not the ones Hoban wanted, but I don't think they make those at Campitelli's

I know Tom had a hand in this. He has been  a huge support, always there for me with a list of questions I had not thought of, lots of love and support. All these guys made it easier to get through the last nerve racking day. When you want to keep things as normal as possible so you don't have to think about tomorrow. Toni even loaned Mike a boob pillow. The office was in stitches with that one. With the office mostly male, you can imagine the comments on that. If you look close you'll see them in the group shot. Here's my friends Sheree, Toni and Andrea all pinked up.
Thank you guys you'll never know how much it means to me.

Surgery Update

So my appointment at the City of Hope on Thurs, went as I expected. Dr John Yem stated that "a lumpectomy + radiation treatment = a mastectomy". He explained a few more things in detail re: the lymph nodes and the procedure in the operating room. Did a physical exam and said it looked good, no swelling in the nodes or throat. That they caught it early.

Fast forward to tonight, I need to get you all updated on tomorrow.

I have to be at the hospital, Kaiser, Riverside at 9:30 am, for all the pre-op stuff, the surgery is at 11:00. I don't know how long the post care is, but I will be going home sometime that evening. This is an out-patient surgery.

I hope to get thru this without too much fuss. Thank you for keeping me in your prayers. I know they help, if only my peace of mind. Sheila
